Nicholaus J. Nelson-Goedert

Nicholaus J. Nelson-GoedertNicholaus J. Nelson-Goedert joined North Miami Beach Senior High PTSA as a high school freshman in 2002. He is currently a third year student at Georgetown University, where he is double majoring in government and psychology. He has interned in the both the district and Capitol Hill offices of Congressman Kendrick Meek, and also in the PTA Office of Programs and Public Policy. He was recently selected to travel to Seoul, Korea in the United States Congress/Korean National Assembly Youth Exchange Program.

Nelson-Goedert began advocating for children and youth as the student representative for the Miami-Dade County Council PTA/PTSA Executive Board, urging support of legislation on universal pre-kindergarten, bullying prevention, and updating the nutritional standards of meals served in public schools.  He now serves on the Youth Involvement and Organizational Viability committees for PTA and was appointed to serve as a youth member of the national board of directors in June of 2008.

Nelson-Goedert is the recipient of many awards, including The Miami Herald Silver Knight in Social Science 2006—which he received for his advocacy work with PTA and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).  When not in school, Nelson-Goedert resides in Miami Gardens, FL with his parents.
