The Passing of a Leader

Past PTA National President Elaine G. Stienkemeyer passed on December 9. Under her leadership in 1984, the legacy of founder Phoebe Apperson Hearst was highlighted with the inauguration of the Phoebe Apperson Hearst Outstanding Educator of the Year Award.  She also helped establish Teacher Appreciation Week, held in May.
