National PTA Reacts to Findings from Second Part of 2014 PDK/Gallup Opinion Poll on the Nation's Public Schools 9-16-14
Today, PDK and Gallup released the results from the second part of the 2014 Poll of the Public’s Attitudes Toward the Public Schools. The findings align with top priorities of National PTA and demonstrate a need for long-term investments in teachers, the importance of ensuring that all children have access to a high quality public education, and the essential role of parents in supporting student success and continuous school improvement.
National PTA Unveils #ShareAwesome Public Awareness Campaign 9-16-14
National PTA® announced today the launch of #ShareAwesome, a national campaign supported by LifeLock, Inc., the industry leader in proactive identity theft protection, to celebrate positive use of digital and social media and to empower families to make smart, safe decisions when using the Internet and mobile devices. With the continued proliferation of the use of technology among children and teens, #ShareAwesome is designed to spotlight and address important issues of online safety and digital citizenship in a fun, positive way. National PTA is kicking off the campaign with the #ShareAwesome contest.
PTAs and Schools Nationwide to Start the Arts During National Arts in Education Week 9-15-14
To raise awareness of the value the arts bring to a high-quality, comprehensive education, PTAs and schools nationwide will be hosting a variety of events and activities from Sept. 15 through 19 as part of PTA Start the Arts Week. The weeklong initiative is designed to celebrate the arts, spotlight the importance of arts education, and encourage participation in arts programs and activities. The timing of the week honors National Arts in Education Week as designated by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010. PTA Start the Arts Week also kicks off the 2014-2015 National PTA Reflections® arts in education program.
